Samsung has launched an online pet care store on its website in South Korea, designed to help SmartThings users that have animal companions pick the right pet-specific smart home products and appliances. The company says it will also sell supplies necessary for raising pets.
Although Samsung doesn't have that many smart home products designed exclusively for pets, several home appliances and smart devices that support the SmartThings platform offer features for pet owners.
For example, the Bespoke Jetbot AI can use its built-in camera to monitor the condition of animal companions in real time. Samsung's Bespoke Wind-Free air conditioner can adjust the temperature and humidity for your breed of dog. And its Bespoke Grande washing machine has a mode that removes stains, allergens, and odors caused by pets.
Samsung says it will expand its pet care store in H2 2023 to provide a pet consulting program that will offer animal education and training services in collaboration with pet food and solution specialists.
Samsung can help you feed your pet the smart way
To complement its existing range of smart home devices equipped with pet-centric features, Samsung is partnering with Aqara to sell a smart pet feeder at its new pet care e-shop in South Korea. Using the Aqara Pet Feeder, pet owners can remotely manage food amounts through the SmartThings platform and give their pets an optimized nutrition plan for healthy living.
Galaxy phone and tablet users can access these pet-oriented features through the SmartThings mobile app by navigating to the “Life” tab and accessing the “Pets” section. This feature is available everywhere, not just South Korea. But it's unclear whether Samsung will open more pet care shops in additional markets.
And to make its new pet care shop in South Korea more attractive, Samsung is giving pet owners who register through the iSylab AniPuppy app and purchase a pet-specialized home appliance at the Samsung Pet Care Store free Samsung Fire & Marine pet insurance. The offer is valid until August 24.
