WhatsApp has been steadily adding many new features over the past couple of years. Some of the biggest features it brought recently are the ability to transfer WhatsApp data between Android and iOS devices and the ability to log in to the same WhatsApp account on up to four devices. Now, the company is working on a major new feature: screen sharing.
WhatsApp is bringing a feature that allows users to share their phone's screen with others on a video call
According to a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that allows users to share their smartphone's screen with others during a video call. This feature is already available via the Google Play Store to those who have the latest beta version (2.23.11.19) of WhatsApp on their Android smartphone. The feature makes it easier for users to showcase something from their phone to others via a video call. It can also be used to get help from others while doing something on the phone.
There is a new icon that appears at the bottom of the screen during a video call. After clicking that icon, a new pop-up menu appears, asking you permission to show your phone's screen and informing you that all the content on the screen will be visible to others on the video call. You have full control over screen sharing and can stop it by clicking the Stop Sharing button during the call.
This feature is very similar to Google Meet's Live Sharing feature, which debuted a couple of years ago. Apple also has a similar feature called SharePlay on devices running iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. WhatsApp's new screen-sharing feature can be really helpful to a lot of users, especially the elderly or children who might need help in getting things done using their phones.
