After dominating the smartphone landscape, Samsung is pushing its OLED technology into premium laptops. The company revealed its first OLED screens for laptops two years ago, and now, the South Korean firm is expanding into the premium gaming laptop market with its 4K OLED screen, starting with the MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport.
MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport has a 16-inch 4K+ Samsung OLED screen
The new MSI Stealth 16 gaming laptop features a 16-inch Samsung Display-made OLED screen with a 4K+ resolution (3,840 x 2,400 pixels) and a 60Hz refresh rate. The laptop was unveiled during the Computex 2023 event that's happening in Taiwan. The laptop features the 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU with 8GB VRAM, up to 64GB DDR5 RAM, up to 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, and a 99.9Whr battery. It comes pre-installed with Windows 11.
The laptop features a six-speaker setup with two 2W tweeters and four 2W woofers. It has a full RGB mechanical keyboard, a Windows Precision trackpad, a fingerprint reader, and a Full HD 30fps webcam with Windows Hello IR face recognition. It has one Thunderbolt 4 (USB C) port, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with DisplayPort, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, an HDMI 2.1 port, an SD card slot, and a 2.5Gb ethernet port. It also features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity.
Last month, Samsung Display announced that it will invest KRW 4.1 trillion ($3.1 billion) to build an 8.6-Generation IT OLED production line to expand its OLED IT business. These OLED screens would be used in laptops and gaming monitors.
