At the beginning of the month, Samsung started releasing the May 2023 security patch for the Galaxy A33 5G in some markets. Curiously, Samsung is now rolling out a couple more May firmware updates for the Galaxy A33 5G.
The first update that brought the May 2023 security patch to the Galaxy A33 5G at the beginning of the month had firmware version A336MUBS4CWD4. Now, the Galaxy A33 5G (SM-A336M) is getting another firmware update with the May 2023 security patch included, featuring firmware number A336MUBU5CWE1.
In addition to enhanced security, the changelog claims that the update brings “new and/or enhanced features.” The “U” letter in the firmware number confirms this is indeed more than just a routine security update. But the changelog doesn't go into more detail than that.
The update is available in a handful of markets: Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Chile.
A new security patch comes to more Galaxy A33 5Gs
In addition to the variant mentioned above, the Galaxy A33 5G (SM-A336E) is also getting a new update. It has firmware version A336EDXS6CWES, and it is available in Thailand. This time, it's just the May 2023 security patch and no new features and/or enhancements to existing features.
Regardless of whether you use the SM-A336E variant in Thailand or the SM-A336M elsewhere, you should be able to download one of the two new firmware updates for your region by opening the Settings app on your phone, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”
