WhatsApp improved its one-to-many messaging feature by introducing Channels. Using WhatsApp Channels, users can send broadcast messages and let everyone know about something in an instant. Now, the Meta-owned platform has been spotted testing a new feature that would alert the user when the feature becomes available.
The Channels feature was previously only available on Telegram, but WhatsApp copied it and brought it to its platform just a few days ago. The WhatsApp Channels feature is gradually rolling out to users and has arrived in Singapore and Colombia. Notably, the feature is arriving in partnership with select organizations.
WhatsApp Channels aren't available to beta testers yet
With time, all WhatsApp users will be able to create channels. The sad part is that even though the feature is available when you hit the channel links, you can't access them. Also, it isn't clear when your account will be eligible to create a channel. To ease this process, WhatsApp is creating an in-app system that will notify you when this new feature is available to you.
According to WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp Channels notification system was spotted in the app beta v2.23.12.20. This version of the app is available on the Google Play Store. However, you need to be enrolled in the beta program to get it. Do note that the feature is still under testing and isn't available to beta testers.
WABetaInfo notes that tapping on the Channels-related pop-up menu will sign you up for the notifications and will alert you when the feature is available for you. In case you aren't excited about Channels, you can select the Dismiss option.
