Samsung has started rolling out the June 2023 security update to the Galaxy S21 series in the US. A few days ago, the international versions of the phones in the lineup received the new security update. Now, both carrier-locked and unlocked versions of the phones are getting the new update in the US.
The carrier-locked versions of phones in the Galaxy S21 lineup are getting the new update with firmware version G991USQS7EWF1. The unlocked versions of the phones are getting the new software update with firmware version G991U1UES7EWE1. The new update brings the June 2023 security patch that fixes over 60 security flaws found in Galaxy phones and tablets. The update doesn't include any other features or performance improvements.
Galaxy S21 June 2023 security update: How to install?
If you have a Galaxy S21 series phone in the US, you can now check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also choose the manual firmware flashing process, but you would need to download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it using a Windows PC and the Odin tool.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 series in early 2021 with Android 11 onboard. The phones received the Android 12 update in late 2021 and the Android 13 update in late 2022. The company will release the Android 14-based One UI 6 update to the phones sometime later this year.
