A new version of Samsung Calendar is now available, and by the looks of it, it's not your run-of-the-mill bug fix release. It's a feature update that improves the app in several ways. Or at least, that's what Samsung would have you believe. Unfortunately, it isn't true unless you skipped previous versions.
The update pushes the Calendar app to version 12.4.07.15. According to Samsung's changelog, the update brings four noteworthy changes. The problem, however, is that the changelog is old and borrowed from version 12.4.06.15, which Samsung rolled out in mid-April.
What's new in this latest update? Nobody knows. The official reused changelog says that stickers are improved. It also mentions an option to hide search history in Calendar and a “Repetition” option to the “Quick add” menu. Lastly, the repeat changelog says category colors for the “Reminder” feature are better. However, none of these changes and features are new.
All in all, Samsung keeps bettering the One UI experience and its first-party app experience, but this Calendar update isn't what it claims to be. It's not as exciting as the changelog makes it out to be, and this highlights an ongoing issue with the company's app update changelogs, where new versions borrow old information and lack details on what they change or add. This has been going on for some time, and there are no signs of Samsung changing its ways.
We're not sure what this new update brings, but for what it's worth, Galaxy device users interested in grabbing the latest version are looking at a download of around 45MB. The update is available through the Galaxy Store.
You can refer to the link above if you want to download it. Or you can open the Galaxy Store on your Samsung device, tap the “hamburger” menu button, and tap “Updates” to see if the latest Calendar version (12.4.07.15) is waiting for you.
