Ever since WhatsApp allowed brands to contact its users, the spam issue on the instant messaging platform has spread widely. Users have been facing unwanted messages and even spam calls on WhatsApp. To solve this issue, the Meta-owned app has introduced new privacy features, including the ability to silence calls from unknown numbers.
WhatsApp introduces the ability to silence unknown callers to reduce spam
Yesterday, WhatsApp announced that it is introducing newer privacy features and making the existing ones easier to use. When you activate the Silence Unknown Callers feature, you won't get active alerts if you receive a call on WhatsApp from a phone number that is now saved in your contacts list. Those calls will be silenced automatically, but they will be visible in your Recent Calls section. You can now access this feature on your Samsung phone.
WhatsApp has also introduced Privacy Checkup. It is a step-by-step process that takes you through all the privacy and security options available on Whatsapp. In this checkup tool, you can set who can message or call you, who can see your profile information (image, status updates, and online status), and add security features such as end-to-end encryption and chat lock.
Over the past few months, WhatsApp has added the ability to transfer data from Android to iOS and vice versa. It also released a feature that allows you to use the same WhatsApp number on multiple phones and tablets. It is also working on bringing the ability to share higher resolution images (more than 4K).
