The Galaxy M14, a phone we dubbed an “affordable 5G-enabled battery life monster,” will soon be available in another market — Malaysia. And affordable it is, as Samsung plans to release it in partnership with Lazada for RM 1,099, or the rough equivalent of $236. Plus, there's a way to obtain an even lower price.
From June 24, the Galaxy M14 5G will be available in Malaysia exclusively through Lazada for RM 1,099. However, as of this writing, prospective buyers can place an order at Lazada early on and get a 21% discount on the budget phone, which lowers the price to RM 870 ($187).
The handset is available in one memory configuration featuring 128GB of storage (expandable via microSD) and 6GB of RAM. And using RAM Plus, Galaxy M14 5G users can convert up to 6GB of storage to extra virtual RAM for a total of (up to) 12GB. Samsung is selling the device in two color options: Blue and Dark Blue. The silver flavor we reviewed is unmentioned in the official announcement.
Decent performance and fantastic battery life
The Galaxy M14 5G is powered by the octa-core Exynos 1330 SoC. It's far from the best Exynos solution Samsung's ever developed, but the chip does offer decent performance levels for the price point. The experience isn't as smooth as what you'd get from a high-end chip, and the general UI can slow down and become unresponsive at times. However, gaming performance is more than adequate if you don't push graphical settings above the default.
Regardless, the most impressive characteristic of the Galaxy M14 5G is its battery life, enabled by a 6,000mAh unit with 25W fast charging. As we said in our Galaxy M14 review, the phone can last more than two days on a single charge, which is impressive. Not many phones can claim that.
Other specs include a 6.6-inch FHD+ 90Hz LCD, a 13MP selfie camera, and a triple rear-facing camera setup comprising a 50MP primary, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth camera. Samsung pre-loaded the Galaxy M14 5G with One UI 5.1 Core and says it will support the device with four years of security upgrades.
