A few days ago, we reported that green/pink lines are appearing on some Galaxy smartphones with Super AMOLED screens. For some units, these lines have been appearing after updating to new software. For others, the green/pink lines have been appearing on the screen despite any physical damage. Now, Samsung has announced that it will offer free screen replacement for some models.
Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 phones with green/pink/purple lines on screen get a free screen replacement
In India, Samsung has confirmed (via Yash Rathore) that it will offer free screen replacement to Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20, and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra units that have been affected by the green/pink line issue. On top of the screen replacement, the company is also offering free battery and kit replacement for these affected units. The confirmation was done by a Samsung India Support executive via the WhatsApp support channel.
However, there are certain terms and conditions to get this free screen replacement. The Galaxy S20 or Galaxy Note 20 series unit must be affected by a green/pink/purple line or screen flicker, and it must be purchased within three years from the date of replacement claim. This offer is valid until September 30, 2023.
This is a much-needed action taken by Samsung, as users affected by the screen issues are not at fault, and the issue lies with Samsung's hardware/software. Samsung might announce a similar screen replacement offer for Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series phones in other countries. It remains to be seen if the company will expand this offer to other Galaxy phones that are affected by the same problem.
