Samsung is the biggest TV brand in the world, and it has been ranked number one in sales for seventeen years in a row. It is also extremely popular in its home country South Korea. It is now estimated that one out of three TVs sold by Samsung in South Korea will be 85 inches or bigger.

Across South Korea, there has been an increasing trend to buy bigger TVs (85-inch or bigger) to enjoy sports leagues and immersive content. Market research firm Omdia has estimated that Samsung will sell many such TVs. From January to July of this year, 85-inch and bigger TVs grew almost twice (1.8x) in sales. In comparison, last year, 75-inch TVs had a market share of 32%. In global sales, Samsung's share in the 75-inch TV segment is 38.8%. In the 80-inch TV segment, Samsung's market share is 43.9%. That is quite impressive, and the company has been focusing on selling more premium and large-sized TVs.

According to the research firm, sales of 98-inch QLED TVs from Samsung grew a staggering 7x than last year. Samsung has launched 98-inch models in both QLED and Neo QLED TV lineups, and even in its OLED TV lineup, Samsung introduced the 83-inch model. Since Samsung Display doesn't make QD-OLED panels bigger than 77 inches, Samsung's TV business had to buy 83-inch OLED panels from LG for its biggest OLED TV.

Starting 1 September 2023, Samsung will run promotions to sell bigger TVs. These offers will be available in both offline and online stores. Those who buy 75-inch or bigger QLED TVs through Naver's New Week from 7 September to 13 September will get a free Samsung Soundbar (C400) and a 6-month TVing Premium subscription. It will offer 65-inch QLED TV at a special price during the offer period. People who buy a big TV during Samsung's promotional period will get 2 million Samsung Electronics loyalty points.
