The August 2023 security update is now available for Galaxy S22 series phones in a few countries. Samsung released the new security update a few days ago, and it has already reached the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S23, and a few Galaxy Z series smartphones.
Galaxy S22 August 2023 security update: What's new?
The latest software update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with firmware version S90xEXXS6CWG9. The update is available in some Latin American countries, including Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. We expect the update to reach more Latin American countries within the next few days and worldwide before the end of this month.
According to Samsung's security documentation, the August 2023 security patch that's included in the new update fixes over 70 security flaws found in Galaxy smartphones and tablets. It is a minor software update that will improve the privacy and security aspects of your Galaxy S22 series phone. However, Samsung had claimed that it would offer improved image quality for shots captured using the primary camera in low-light conditions, but that improvement doesn't seem to be a part of the new update.
If you have a Galaxy S22 series phone and live in any of the countries mentioned above, you can check for the new update. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the said firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually using the Odin software on any PC running a Windows OS.
