PSA: Google Pay and Samsung Pay don’t work on One UI 6.0 Beta

Last week, Samsung released the first beta version of the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update to the Galaxy S23 series in three countries. The new software is available to users who signed up to beta-test the software. Since it is a beta update, payment, banking, and other finance apps may not work on devices running One UI 6.0 beta.

Mobile payment apps like Google Pay, Google Wallet, and Samsung Pay most likely won't work on devices running the One UI 6.0 beta update. That's because beta versions of the operating system are not certified by Google, and only certified software is allowed to run most payment apps. Even stock Android hasn't reached the stable mark yet, and Google is yet to release the stable Android 14 update to Pixel phones.

So, if you're thinking of installing the One UI 6.0 beta update on your primary device, think twice before going through with it, as you won't be able to make payments. Even if Samsung Pay works in the first beta version of One UI 6.0, it is possible that future beta updates of the new operating system could disable the app due to security reasons.

Samsung usually releases a new One UI beta version every couple of weeks, and the stable One UI update is released after five or six beta updates are released. After the Galaxy S23, more high-end Galaxy phones are expected to get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 beta update. The possible list includes the Galaxy S22 (series), Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
