According to an official blog post, Google Photos is getting a big redesign with a new update. The latest update brings a revamped navigation bar and a redesigned ‘Memories' feature. As per Google, the new update that is rolling out today on mobile introduces a scrapbook-like ‘Memories' feature.

Notably, you can view all of your images and videos from a specific date or topic grouped together. Besides, the new navigation bar arriving for Google Photos also brings a dedicated tab for the ‘Memories' feature. Now, the new Google Photos navigation bar has four tabs: Photos, Memories, Library, and Search. Do note that with the new update, the existing ‘Sharing' tab is now gone. Interestingly, this is the first navigation update that Google Photos has received in years.

The Google Photos update is set to arrive at other locations in the coming months

The sad part about this new Photos update is that it is currently rolling out in the US. However, Google confirms that the feature will arrive in other parts of the world in the coming months. Apart from the revamped UI, a few other features are also rolling out for Google Photos.

The Photos app now lets you co-author Memories with other users. Meaning you can now invite others to collaborate and use their photos and videos to create an album. Also, you can share memories as videos on messaging apps or social media as well. Google Photos is also getting a touch of AI. You can use the ‘Help Me Tile' option to make use of AI to create titles for your Memories album. The feature is experimental, and in order to try it out, you need to be signed up for Google Labs.
