According to the latest reports, ChromeOS is all set to receive some new important updates, including a brand-new Settings menu and Google Tasks integration in the quick settings tray. The new ChromeOS settings menu will be painted with the Material You theme, as you find in Android OS.

As per information spotted by C2 Production on Twitter, the Settings menu will contain a mix of Material You and the classic ChromeOS. It will have the modern look of Android. Dynamic theming and other Material Design 3 elements are applied to the Settings menu. Well, apart from the revamp, the update also brings functionality changes. Google is changing how the different sidebar tabs work on Chrome OS.

There is no said deadline on when these new features will go live on Chrome OS

Currently, the sidebar is used as a shortcut to different sections. Now, the new ChromeOS settings menu will split the sections, just as it does on Android. This new Settings page appears as a part of ChromeOS 117, but there is no surety if it will appear as default for everyone. Moreover, Chrome OS 117 is also testing updated media controls and a welcome tour.

Chrome OS is also integrating Google Tasks directly into the operating system. The Google Tasks integration now appears alongside the Google Calendar. When you tap the updated Chrome OS bottom bar, you will see Google Calendar with the Google Tasks. All these features are currently under development in Chrome OS behind Flags. They are expected to reach a stable version in the coming months.
