The next-generation Galaxy SmartTag is closing in on its release date, and a couple of color options have been revealed by industry sources (via MobileFun). A new leak suggests that Samsung will release the Galaxy SmartTag 2 in October. And as previous photos from the FCC and a third-party case manufacturer have indicated, the new wearable device has been completely redesigned.
We're missing an exact date for when Samsung will start selling the Galaxy SmartTag 2, but the tracking device should hit the shelves in a few weeks from now, in October.
The SmartTag 2 will be available in at least two colors: black and white. It's unclear if more colorful choices will be offered later on. The black and white Galaxy SmartTag 2 have manufacturer part numbers EI-T5600BBEGEU and EI-T5600BWEGEU, respectively.

UWB connectivity is now available by default
Much as we suspected, sources say that the next-gen tracker from Samsung will no longer be split between Bluetooth-only and UWB variants. Every Galaxy SmartTag 2 will have both Bluetooth and UWB connectivity.
The complete redesign should make it easier for users to hang the SmartTag 2 from keyrings, and it could allow third-party manufacturers to develop more intricate accessories.
Pricing details are also unknown, but it looks like Samsung plans on selling the Galaxy SmartTag 2 on its own and in 4-piece bundles (2 black + 2 white). The bundle reportedly carries manufacturer part number EI-T5600KWEGEU.
Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 will let you attach it to and track your belongings in real time through the SmartThings Find app. The gadget will also allow users to create a virtual perimeter and receive alerts on their mobile devices whenever the SmartTag 2 leaves the designated area.
