OPPO is turning up the heat on Samsung with its new foldable phones. Last year, it became the third brand (after Motorola and Samsung) to launch a flip-style smartphone with a foldable screen. The company has announced that it will soon launch its second-generation flip phone, the OPPO Find N3 Flip, globally.

It was launched in China yesterday, and it will compete with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 that was launched a few days ago.

OPPO Find N3 Flip has a triple-camera setup with a telephoto camera

The Find N3 Flip, which was unveiled yesterday, is coming soon to global markets, including Europe and India. It has three rear-facing cameras, including a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an F1.8 aperture, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. It is undoubtedly the most impressive camera setup ever on a flip-style foldable smartphone.

It is the first flip phone to have a dedicated telephoto camera. While the Galaxy Z Flip 5 can offer near lossless 2x zoom with its 12MP primary camera, the Find N3 Flip can theoretically provide more details due to its higher resolution sensor. There is also a 32MP selfie camera that can record 4K 30fps videos. Sadly, none of its cameras support up to 4K 60fps videos, which is where the Galaxy Z Flip 5 excels.

The Find N3 Flip is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 processor, 12GB RAM, and 256GB/512GB UFS 4.0 storage. It has a 6.8-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED screen that can be folded. The phone has a 3.26-inch OLED screen outside, smaller than the Galaxy Z Flip 5's 3.4-inch cover screen.

OPPO Find N3 Flip Cover Screen

None of these screens are as bright as the ones on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The cover screen goes as high as 800 nits, while the inner screen can reach a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 5's cover screen reaches up to 1,200 nits, and the inner screen can reach up to 1,750 nits of peak brightness. The cover screen has more widgets than last year, but it still doesn't let you run full-fledged apps like the Galaxy Z Flip 5 does.

OPPO has equipped the Find N3 Flip with stereo speakers, GPS, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It is powered by a 4,300mAh battery that supports up to 44W fast charging. While there is a side-mounted fingerprint reader, it lacks an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

OPPO Find N3 Flip is almost as pricey as the Galaxy Z Flip 5

Its 256GB version costs CNY 6,799 (~$932) in China, which is closer to the Galaxy Z Flip 5. It could be almost as pricey as the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in European markets. And when you consider that it has a weaker chip and lacks an IP rating, it doesn't look that enticing compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
