One UI 6.0 beta 3 brings a subtle change to the media player

Firmware

The third One UI 6.0 beta firmware is now rolling out, and as expected, some changes were left out of the official patch notes, leaving beta testers to discover what else is new besides the many bug fixes addressed in the changelog.

One subtle change that went unmentioned by Samsung concerns the behavior of the media player widget inside the notification area and the lock screen. Users can collapse or expand the media player by tapping a small arrow-shaped button, just like in previous versions of One UI. However, in One UI 6.0 beta 3, the system remembers your previous setting.

The demonstration above shows how it works, i.e., if you access the notification area, expand the media player, return to the home screen, and access the lock screen or go back to the notification area, you'll notice that the media player doesn't collapse automatically. It retains its previous state.

One UI 6.0 beta 3 is rolling out widely

If you are enrolled in the One UI 6.0 beta program for the Galaxy S23 series, you should now have access to the third beta build in the USA, India, Germany, the UK, and possibly South Korea and Poland.

If you haven't enrolled in the beta program but would like to participate, here's everything you need to know before you sign up through the Samsung Members app.

The Galaxy S23 is ahead of all other Galaxy devices in the beta program, but Samsung has also rolled out test firmware for cheaper devices such as the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54. The series-A devices have not yet received beta 3.
