Samsung unveiled its first Fan Edition wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds FE, today. It brings most of what people love about Galaxy Buds at an attractive price point. Similar to the Galaxy Buds 2 and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, the Galaxy Buds FE features a compact design, powerful audio, and ANC, but how does it compare against the Galaxy Buds 2?
Let us find out in this article whether you should spend your money on the Galaxy Buds FE or the Galaxy Buds 2.
Galaxy Buds FE vs Galaxy Buds 2
While the charging cases of the Galaxy Buds FE and the Galaxy Buds 2 look similar, the earbuds look quite different. The Galaxy Buds FE uses a design that's similar to the Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Buds+, featuring a flatter surface for the touch-sensitive area. The Galaxy Buds 2 has a newer and more rounded design.
The Galaxy Buds 2 has a dual-driver audio setup, while the Galaxy Buds FE uses a single driver in each earbud. Both earbuds feature Bluetooth 5.2, along with AAC, SBC, and SSC audio codecs. They also feature Auto Switch and wear detection sensors. So, the connectivity and stability should be similar.
The Galaxy Buds 2 can last up to 5 hours with ANC turned off and 20 hours with the charging case. The Galaxy Buds FE can last up to 8.5 hours on a single charge and 30 hours with the charging case. Even with ANC turned on, the Galaxy Buds FE can last more than the Galaxy Buds 2 with ANC turned off.
They both have a USB Type-C charging port, but the Galaxy Buds FE lack wireless charging, something that's available on the Galaxy Buds 2. The Galaxy Buds FE are priced at $99.99, while the Galaxy Buds 2 cost $149.99. So, you're getting almost the same features as the Galaxy Buds 2 at a nearly 40% lower price.
