The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor worldwide. While the chipset is yet to be unveiled, we may have the first look at its performance in CPU-bound tasks, thanks to the USA variant of the Galaxy S24 Ultra that was spotted in Geekbench's database.
Galaxy S24 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is 34% faster than Galaxy S23 Ultra
Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra (SM-S928U), has been spotted with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor (codename Pineapple) in Geekbench's (version 6.2.0) CPU benchmark database. The smartphone scored 2,234 points in the single-core CPU performance test and 6,807 points in the multi-core CPU performance test. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy-equipped Galaxy S23 Ultra scores 1,895 points in the single-core CPU performance test and 5,062 points in the multi-core CPU performance test. This chip will be unveiled later this month at the Snapdragon Summit 2023 event.
The entry also reveals that the Galaxy S24 Ultra runs Android 14 out of the box and has 8GB of RAM. The benchmark entry of the phone also reveals more details about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It appears to have one Cortex-X4 CPU core clocked at 3.3GHz, three Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocked at 3.15GHz, two Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocked at 2.96GHz, and two Cortex-A520 CPU cores clocked at 2.27GHz. Some rumors claim that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is 40% more powerful than its predecessor in terms of GPU performance.
While the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ are rumored to come in both Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy versions, depending on the market, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy processor across the world. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely feature a titanium frame, an improved 200MP primary rear camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
