Samsung has put a date on its AI-centric convention for 2023. Today, the company announced that Samsung AI Forum 2023 – a yearly event hosted by SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) – will be held at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi-do, Korea, on November 7.
This year's forum will begin with an introduction from the President and CEO of Samsung Electronics Device Solution, Kye Hyung Kyung. Follow-up keynotes will be presented by University of Montreal Professor Yoshua Benjo. CEO of AI semiconductor startup Tenstorrent Jim Keller will also hit the stage.
If the latter names sound familiar, i's likely because Tenstorrent's next-gen AI chipsets will be made by Samsung Foundry. Earlier this summer, reports said Samsung teamed up with Groq and Tenstorrent to develop a new semiconductor project. Jim Keller is best known for his work at AMD, where he was the lead architect for the AMD K8 architecture, and Apple, where he designed the A4 and A5 processors.
Other prominent figures in the industry who will hit the stage at Samsung AI Forum 2023 include Professor Satoshi Matsuoka of the Riken Institute of Computer Science in Japan, research scientist from the Meta AI Research Lab Larry Zitnick, and SAIT's AI and CE research leaders.

The two key topics of Samsung AI Forum 2023
According to Samsung, this year's AI Forum is focused on expanding on two key topics, namely:
- Large Language Models and Transformation of AI for Industry.
- Large-scale Computing for Large Language Model and Simulation.
The theme is fitting in the wake of ChatGPT and Samsung developing its own large language model-based solution for in-house use. Samsung chose to develop an in-house LLM solution earlier this year to avoid sensitive semiconductor information leaking through ChatGPT.
At AI Forum 2023, Samsung and industry leaders will showcase the latest achievements in AI (artificial intelligence) and CE (computer engineering), with the overarching theme being “large-scale AI for a better tomorrow.”
The company will also host a ceremony where the winners of the Samsung AI Research Award and Samsung AI/CE Challenge will be announced.
