After unveiling the Galaxy SmartTag 2 a few weeks ago alongside the Galaxy S23 FE, Samsung has launched it in its home country, South Korea. The Galaxy SmartTag 2 will be available for purchase in South Korea starting October 18, and it is priced at KRW 36,300 ($27). Samsung is also selling a 4-pack version for KRW 129,800 ($96).

The Galaxy SmartTag 2 is available in Black and White colors. Those who buy the device from Samsung.com before October 31, 2023, will be eligible to get a silicon or rugged case for the Galaxy SmartTag 2 for free. Moreover, those who write a review of the Galaxy SmartTag 2 on the Naver Smart Store would also get Naver Pay points for free.

Galaxy SmartTag 2 features

Samsung's second-generation SmartTag product comes with a brand-new design that is more compact, thanks to its slimmer body. It has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. It has Bluetooth 5.3 (with LE), UWB, and NFC connectivity for a longer range and more accurate location information. It has a battery life of up to 500 days in normal mode and up to 700 days in power-saving mode.

It supports NFC-based Lost Mode. Users can enter their contact information on the Galaxy SmartTag 2, and when someone else finds it, they can tap their phone on the Galaxy SmartTag 2 to find your contact information to reach out to you. In the SmartThings Find app, you can use the AR Mode to find the location of the device more accurately with the help of AR guidance and numbers. In Walk Mode, which is meant to be used with your pets, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 tracks your pet's health and activity information, such as route, time, distance measurement, meals, drinking water, and rest.

A Samsung Electronics official said, “Galaxy Smart Tag 2 provides an upgraded and differentiated customer experience through NFC,” and added, “We will continue to introduce various products and services that can improve the convenience and efficiency of daily life.

Author's Note: The Galaxy SmartTag 2 is better than the Galaxy SmartTag in every way. It has improved connectivity and range, a more practical and rugged design, a much longer battery life, and additional features like Walk Mode for pet tracking. If you are invested in Samsung's ecosystem and haven't purchased an object tracker yet, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 would be the perfect starting product for you.

Samsung should think of integrating SmartThings Find with Google's Find My Device network for a broader network that improves location tracking of all object trackers.
