A fourth Galaxy S24 battery supplier has entered the arena

Samsung appears to have employed a fourth battery supplier in anticipation of releasing the Galaxy S24 series early next year. We can't recall a time when Samsung had four battery suppliers for its S-series flagship, but even if this isn't the first time it happened throughout the lineup's history, it is highly unusual.

In September, we confirmed that Samsung has a three-pronged supply strategy for the Galaxy S24+ model's battery. Its suppliers are Samsung SDI Vietnam, China's Ningde Amperex Technology Limited, and ELENTEC India.

Now, according to a new certificate we found at Safety Korea, it appears that Samsung has a fourth battery supplier.

The name is Navitasys India, and according to the documents, the company is supplying batteries for the Galaxy S24 Ultra — although the other two S24 models shouldn't necessarily be excluded due to their absence in these listings.

Samsung should have no shortage of Galaxy S24-series batteries

Whether Samsung's fourth battery supplier will be used exclusively for Galaxy S24 models released in India remains to be determined. The fact that Samsung has so far contracted two battery suppliers from India for the Galaxy S24 series could be tied to the local government's “Made in India” initiative.

In any case, Samsung should have no supply shortage issues for Galaxy S24 batteries. And that's pretty good news, given that the company has adopted a more sustainable model across its Galaxy phones. Internal designs have changed to make batteries easier to replace than they were. In many markets, Samsung offers toolkits and instructions for customers to DIY replace smartphone components. The idea is to prolong the life of mobile products by allowing customers to perform repairs.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S24 in early 2024, with some rumors hinting at a January 2024 Unpacked global launch event that could be held in San Francisco, USA. As usual, the series should consist of three models: a base model, a Plus, and a top-tier Ultra variant.
