With Android 13, Google introduced dynamic theming for app icons. More than a year after the release of the feature, app developers have finally started embracing the feature, and some developers have now started rolling out dynamic-themed app icons for their apps. Instagram is also getting that feature on compatible Android devices.
Instagram gets support for a Dynamic Theme app icon
It is being reported by Mishaal Rahman that the latest version (307.0.0.0.30) of the Instagram app for Android brings support for a dynamic-themed app icon. It means if you're running Android 13 (or a newer version of Android) on your Galaxy smartphone, you can see a material you-themed icon for the Instagram app. It shows a dual-tone app icon with the dominant color being picked up from your chosen home screen wallpaper (using the Monet theming engine).
To activate Material You themed app icons on your Galaxy smartphone or tablet, long-press on the phone's home screen, tap on Wallpaper and style. Then, tap on Color palette, enable the Color palette feature, and then enable Apply palette to app icons.
Several social media apps have recently started supporting Material You-themed app icons. Those apps include Mastodon, LinkedIn, Reddit, Telegram, Threads, and WhatsApp. Most apps from Google and Samsung also support this customization feature. More apps will get the theming feature soon.
