After recently unveiling the under-testing story-sharing options, Instagram head Adam Mosseri unveiled a new feature that is currently under development. This app picked up a new dynamic-themed app icon, and now the latest information shows that Instagram is testing a new custom sticker tool for Reels and Stories.
Using this new Instagram custom sticker tool, users will be able to create custom stickers for sharing on their Reels and Stories. They can use their own photos or others' pictures to create custom stickers. Speaking about the feature on his broadcast channel, Adam Mosseri said, “Back with another fun test. We’re testing a way for you to turn your photos into custom stickers to use in reels and stories.”
There is no word on when the custom sticker option will be available on Instagram
The new Instagram custom sticker tool will let users pick a photo, remove it from its background, then place it anywhere and use it as a regular sticker. This will work for both photos saved on the phone and for photos users find on Instagram. So, you will be able to make stickers from other people's content (a great meme tool, TBH). However, as noted by Engadget, there will presumably be an option to opt out of this.
It seems like Instagram has taken cues from the custom sticker feature from Apple iOS 16, which debuted last year. FYI, Apple already lets you create custom stickers and post them on your Instagram posts. Besides, you can also make content from other people's posts using screenshots. As of now, that's all the information regarding the Instagram custom sticker tool, and Mosseri did not announce when the feature would start popping up on Instagram users' accounts.
