Samsung has released what looks like the second software update for the Galaxy S23 FE since the device went on sale earlier this month. The first update for the S23 FE brought some stability and reliability enhancements and improved things like the sharpness of 3x zoom photos.
The second update that's rolling out this week is more basic and only brings a new security patch. It is accompanied by a firmware version ending in AWJ2; the update became available for the Exynos version of the phone first, but we can expect the Snapdragon variant to receive it soon.
The Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra started getting the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update globally on October 30, but the Galaxy S23 FE, having just launched, is unsurprisingly not included in the rollout. It's disappointing that it wasn't launched running Android 14, though some markets, especially those in Europe, could get the device with Android 14 preloaded as the phone's release in those markets could happen sometime in early 2024.
There's no word on when Samsung will push Android 14/One UI 6.0 to those who buy the Galaxy S23 FE right now, but we have our fingers crossed that it won't take long. The Galaxy S23 FE uses the same Exynos and Snapdragon chips as the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra so perhaps it could get its first major OS upgrade at the same time as those 2022 flagships?
