Water and dust resistance is pretty common on Samsung smartphones, but not on tablets. While water and dust resistance did make it to Samsung's mainstream tablets this year, the company usually reserves the feature for the Galaxy Tab Active, its rugged tablet lineup.
Galaxy Tab Active tablets don't just feature water and dust resistance. They also have a rugged body that can take a beating and escape without serious damage. And our friends over at GalaxyClub have discovered that Samsung's next rugged tablet is now in development.

The last tablet in the lineup was launched as the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro, so it's possible the next one will be the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, though the name is not confirmed. It's also unclear if this is a direct sequel as Samsung has changed the way it assigns model numbers to its tablets for 2023 and beyond, but it is highly likely considering Samsung doesn't make too many rugged tablets.
The Tab Active 5 could feature model numbers SM-X300 and SM-X306B for the Wi-Fi and 5G variants respectively. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all the info that is available right now. The removable battery that Samsung will use for this tablet can be seen in a certification photo, but the battery capacity is not visible.
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 (Pro) will likely launch next year, possibly in the first six months as the Tab Active 4 Pro came out in August 2022 and Samsung typically takes up to a year and a half before launching sequels to existing tablets. More details, such as specs and pricing and whether it supports the S Pen like the Tab Active 4 Pro, will likely show up in the coming months as we get closer to the official launch.
