Samsung brings cricket scores to Bixby, just in time for World Cup 2023

Bixby isn't very popular, and it wanes in comparison to Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. Although there isn't much interest in Samsung's AI-powered digital voice assistant, the company has been continuously improving over the past few years. With the One UI 6 update, Bixby is getting improvements to Bixby Text Call. Now, Samsung has added one more feature that is really useful for all cricket fans.

Bixby can now show you live cricket scores

Samsung has brought live cricket scores to Bixby, which means you can now ask Bixby to show you the cricket score of an ongoing match. The company has collaborated with sports website Sportskeeda for cricket score integration for Bixby. This useful feature was launched just before the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, and the announcement was made by Balaji Hariharan, Senior Director at Samsung India.

You can ask Bixby to show you the cricket match score of a particular country, and it will display the live score in a pop-up window. You can also click the ‘Full Scorecard' button to view detailed scores. You can also ask Bixby to show you the list of ongoing or recently concluded cricket matches. If you want to see more information, you can click the ‘More On Sportskeeda' link below the scores information. It is also possible that it will be able to display scores from cricket leagues, such as IPL and Big Bash.

Here are some of the voice/text commands that you can give to Bixby for cricket scores:

  • What's the score?
  • What's the ODI score?
  • Show me recent matches.
  • Show me live matches.
  • Show me upcoming matches.
  • Show me points table

This story continues after our One UI 6.0 features video that you can watch below.

Author's Note: Cricket appears to be Samsung's first sports scores integration for Bixby. It currently can't display football or any other sports scores, at least in India. Hopefully, Samsung will bring more such integration for popular sports around the world, including baseball, basketball, football, hockey, rugby, tennis, and more. The company also needs to bring deeper integration for sports scores and data. For example, it should be able to tell who scored the most runs or took the most wickets in the ongoing series or tournament. Bixby has a long way to go before it can even set sights on Google Assistant and Siri.
