WhatsApp is getting yet another new feature that will make the experience more convenient for users, following the addition of features like email verification, double-tap-to-skip gestures for videos, and the ability to use two accounts on the same phone.
The latest addition is the option to search through messages inside conversations by date. As seen in the screenshot below, the search bar has a new calendar icon that, when pressed, will bring up a full-fledged date picker with the option to change the date, month, and year.
This is one of the most useful improvements WhatsApp has gained in recent months, as searching inside conversations on WhatsApp can be a pretty laborious affair. It should also make it possible to search for messages that include voice notes, images, and other media, at least as long as the user can recall the time frame during which the message was received.
Unfortunately, it seems WhatsApp has only added search-by-date functionality to the web/PC version for now, and only for those who are using the beta app. Android and iOS, along with the non-beta version of the app for PCs, will probably get the feature in the coming weeks, though it could be a while as WhatsApp tends to test new features extensively before making them widely available.
