Many Galaxy phones have received the One UI 6 (Android 14) update in the last few days. With more users now getting the chance to use the new software, some issues that still plague One UI 6 even after the long beta phase it went through are coming to light.
One such issue involves a purple screen. Don't worry, this isn't a hardware problem like those pesky green lines that have ruined some Galaxy phone displays. It's a software issue – on some devices, switching between the recent apps screen and the home screen makes the background purple for a few seconds.
From at least one user report that we have seen online, this issue apparently occurs when using the Home Up Good Lock app and its background color control feature, which allows you to change the background color of the recent apps screen. However, that doesn't seem to be the case for everyone, and we weren't able to replicate the issue on a Galaxy S23 Ultra or a Galaxy Z Fold 5 with or without using the Good Lock app.
But Samsung has revealed that it is aware of the issue and will be fixing it via an update at the end of the month, though it's unclear which devices will get the update first. We'll let you know once we learn more, and in the meantime, you can rest assured that your phone's display isn't in any trouble.
