The Galaxy A series is undoubtedly one of Samsung's best-selling lineups and the Galaxy A5x models in particular have long been some of its most successful devices. Beyond the flagships, this remains one of the most sought-after series from the company.

Long billed as premium mid-range devices, their plastic frames are by no means premium, but that may be set to change in 2024. A new rumor claims that both the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 will ditch their plastic frames for metal.

Some Galaxy A models may have a metal frame next year

The rumor comes via an X tipster who has a somewhat credible track record. Word on the street is that Samsung is no longer going to use plastic frames for these mid-range devices. Both the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 may come with metal frames instead.

If true, this change will instantly elevate the look and feel of these devices. This would be a welcome change for customers who had long been wishing for Samsung to follow through on it, particularly when you consider the fact that there have been phones in the Galaxy A series that had metal frames in the past.

Leaked renders of the Galaxy A35 have already shown that this mid-range lineup's design will now be brought more in line with the flagship models from Samsung. One major upgrade for the Galaxy A35 is the Infinity-O display where the front facing camera is placed inside a cutout. It gets rid of the U-shaped cutout of the previous models.

Both this device and the Galaxy A55 will likely be powered by Samsung's new Exynos 1480 chipset. It's paired with an AMD RDNA2-based GPU and up to 8GB of RAM. Android 14 One UI 6.0 will be pre-installed and the devices will likely be supported for four Android OS upgrades. Expect Samsung to unveil the new Galaxy A series soon after the Galaxy S24 lineup is unveiled in January next year.
