Samsung has released the Android 14 update to the Galaxy S21 FE. The update is rolling out in the US for some carrier-locked models of the smartphone. With this release, the company has started rolling out the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update to all models in the Galaxy S21 lineup.

Galaxy S21 FE gets Android 14 update in the US, starting with Verizon's network

The Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update is now available for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S21 FE on Verizon's network in the US. The update comes with firmware versions G990USQU9FWK5 or G990U2SQU7FWK5 and includes the November 2023 security patch. The factory-unlocked and international versions of the Galaxy S21 FE haven't started getting the Android 14 update yet, but we expect the rollout to begin to those models within the next few days.

If you have a carrier-locked Galaxy S21 FE and live in the US, you can now check for the Android 14 update on your device. To do that, open the Settings app on your phone and then navigate to Software update » Download and install. Since this is a major software update, we advise you to download the update through a Wi-Fi connection and back up all your important files.

One UI 6.0 features for Galaxy S21 FE

The Galaxy S21 FE was launched with Android 12 onboard, and it has received two major updates: Android 13 and Android 14. It will get two more Android OS updates in the future. One UI 6.0 brings several new features, including a completely new Quick Panel layout, a new font, new emojis, a new media player widget featuring a waveform animation, and a simpler design for the stock camera app. All stock apps have received new features and design changes as well.

You can check out all the One UI 6.0 features in our in-depth video below.

One UI 6.0 also brings new widgets, including Custom Camera and Weather Insights. Bixby Text Call can be initiated anytime during a voice call. The Gallery app shows quick edit suggestions in the file details section. Stickers clipped from images can be saved to Samsung Keyboard so that you can use them later in other apps. Stickers can also be clipped from videos. The Gallery app now has a document-scanning feature.

The built-in image editor now has bigger controls for easier editing. You can draw on custom stickers. The built-in video editor has been renamed to Video Studio, and it has received the option to save drafts and continue editing videos from the draft later. The Calendar app now offers recommendations for events. The Settings app now has a separate section for battery settings.
