Samsung's new Galaxy Book 4 Ultra laptop can now pride itself on battery charging speeds that match the 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro. Samsung confirmed today that the new Ultra model ships with a more powerful USB Type-C charger.
The previous Galaxy Book 3 Ultra shipped with a 100W charger. Some users even complained that the included charger wasn't powerful enough to keep the battery charging while the laptop was under heavy load, particularly when maxing out the NVIDIA RTX graphics chip during gaming sessions.
New Samsung Ultra laptop ships with 140W charger
The Galaxy Book 4 Ultra may have fixed the issue described above. Or, at the very least, Samsung can now boast that its top-tier laptop can match the 16-inch MacBook Pro's charging speed.
Samsung has included a bigger 140W Type-C wall brick in the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra retail package. The company says the new Ultra laptop can gain 55% battery life in only 30 minutes of using the 140W adapter.
These figures are based on internal testing using a Galaxy Book 4 Ultra with a 2% battery charge remaining, with all services, all features, and the screen turned off. The company specifies that actual charging speed may vary depending on usage, charging conditions, and other factors.
Samsung's new Galaxy Book 4 Ultra has a 76Wh battery and can be equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 9 CPU, 16/32/64GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 or 4070 graphics chip.
The Galaxy Book 4 Ultra will debut in Korea on January 2 for the starting price of 3.36 million won ($2,597). Samsung says the laptop will gradually go on sale in more select markets.
