Apple launched the AirPods Pro (2nd generation), its latest flagship wireless earbuds, almost three years after introducing the first-generation AirPods Pro. People expect the tech giant to unveil the AirPods Pro 3 (or AirPods Pro 3rd Generation) in 2025. While there are still two years remaining till the launch, leaks, and rumors about the upcoming earbuds have already started pouring in, and here’s what they claim the AirPods Pro 3 will offer.

New design

According to a recent report from Mark Gurman on Bloomberg, AirPods Pro 3 will feature an all-new design. While there are no details about the exact changes, rumors suggest that Apple will update the design of the earbuds as well as the case. Expect the company to change the design of earbuds in a way that they become more comfortable to wear and make the case more compact than the current model to make it easier to carry.

Upgraded chipset

The AirPods Pro (2nd generation) features the Apple H2 chipset, which offers better noise cancelation and Hey Siri detection, faster switching between devices, and Adaptive EQ, compared to the Apple H1 SoC in the first-generation AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro 3 are expected to feature the Apple H3 chipset, which could offer even better noise cancellation and Hey Siri detection. It will most likely also offer better audio transmission quality, which could result in better sound quality and longer battery life.

Better sound quality

Apple, or any other brand, tends to offer better audio quality with every new iteration of its audio product. As such, expect the AirPods Pro 3 to provide improved sound quality compared to the AirPods Pro 2. The change could come from new audio drivers and/or better audio tuning. However, there’s no concrete information available on the matter yet.

Hearing health features

According to Mark Gurman, Apple is working on adding those features to the AirPods Pro 3 that would boost hearing, which could be helpful for people suffering from hearing loss. Apple is also developing features related to hearing health for the AirPods lineup. It includes a hearing test that can play sounds to test how well a person can hear and gives users a report on their hearing power. Expect the company to offer this feature with the AirPods Pro 3.

Temperature sensor

Speaking of health, Apple has been working on implementing temperature sensors in the AirPods Pro. If everything goes well, expect the AirPods Pro 3 to be capable of measuring your body temperature. Just so you know, temperature measurements from inside the ear are usually more accurate than temperature measurements from the wrist. Rumors also suggest that Apple has been testing sensors for AirPods Pro that measure heart rate and perspiration level. However, there’s no info if those sensors will end up in the AirPods Pro 3.
