Rumor: India could get Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy S24+!

Indian customers looking forward to purchasing the Galaxy S24+ may have a surprise in store. According to a new rumor on Twitter, there's a 99% chance that Samsung could launch the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy S24+ in India and only use the Exynos 2400 in the base Galaxy S24 model.

Two unnamed Indian retailers are said to be the source of this information, but is it accurate? Well, at this time, there is zero provable evidence that a Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S24+ exists. On Geekbench, the popular benchmark website where every upcoming phone makes an appearance before the official launch, only the Exynos variant of the S24+ (and the S24) can be found for markets other than the US.

The Exynos variant carries the model number SM-S926B, and if a Snapdragon model exists for India and other countries outside the US, it should have the model number SM-S926E. But again, that model is not listed on Geekbench, and more importantly, we didn't see any sign that Samsung is developing any firmware for it.

Firmware development is the best way to confirm whether a particular device (or a variant of it) exists when its launch is merely a couple of weeks away, so we would advise against getting too excited for now. Yes, it's possible Samsung may have kept this mysterious variant under wraps, perhaps to surprise fans, but with just two weeks to go for the Galaxy S24 Unpacked event, it's not very likely.

However, we would be extremely happy to be proven wrong. After getting to use Qualcomm's amazing Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset in all Samsung flagships in 2023, we are not keen on going back to Exynos chips and the problems that have plagued them so often over the last few years.
