The Galaxy S24 lineup will be officially unveiled on January 17, and a lot of people will be hoping to pick one up in the coming weeks, either as an upgrade over their existing Galaxy smartphone or a smartphone from another brand.
Those who are sticking to their existing Galaxy phone, on the other hand, are looking forward to One UI 6.1. The new version of One UI will debut on the Galaxy S24 series and, as always, it will be released for older devices over the weeks and months that follow.
The Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are likely to be the first to receive One UI 6.1, and Samsung has been testing the update for its 2023 flagship lineup for some time. Now, Samsung is turning its attention to the Galaxy S23's predecessor.
An internal test build of One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra has been spotted on Samsung's servers, mere days before the Galaxy S24 launch. The timing suggests that One UI 6.1 will take longer to arrive on existing smartphones compared to One UI 5.1 last year, though Samsung has a good excuse for the delay.
Samsung is making AI the centerpiece of its upcoming flagship and has several neat AI-powered features in store for us, and porting those features to older devices may require more work. Still, we can expect One UI 6.1 to start rolling out to eligible devices before the end of February.
