The Galaxy A14 5G was one of the first Samsung phones to get the One UI 6 update, well ahead of some of the company's flagship and more expensive mid-range devices. The initial release came at the end of November last year, and Samsung has been expanding the update's availability globally at a slow but steady pace since then.
Earlier this week, the Galaxy A14 5G received Android 14 and One UI 6 in the US, and the update is now making its way to Europe, where the A14 5G was among the best-selling smartphones in 2023.
Android 14 for the Galaxy A14 5G can be identified by firmware version A146PXXU5CWL7 and is a 1.7GB download over the air. The download size is considerably smaller than higher-end Galaxy phones, which is to be expected.
You may even find that some features Samsung mentions in the changelog are not actually available on the phone. One such example is Auto Blocker, a new security feature that debuted with One UI 6. You won't find it on your A14 5G after updating it, and from what we know, you cannot access it via the Galaxy Store either, though that could change later.
Still, there's plenty of new things in Android 14 and One UI 6 that will improve your everyday user experience. You can check out the video below for a rundown of some of the big new features and read our One UI 6 guide if you want to go into more detail.
To download the update, open the Settings app on the phone, select Software update, and tap Download and install. As always, make sure to use a Wi-Fi connection or a data plan with enough bandwidth, keep the phone charged to at least 20%, and back up any important data (even if these updates rarely fail to complete successfully).
