Samsung started rolling out a new security update earlier this month, and it has already reached the company's high-end and mid-range smartphones. Now, the January 2024 security update has started reaching the original Galaxy Z Flip, and European countries were the first to get the update.
Galaxy Z Flip gets January 2024 security update
The latest software update for the original Galaxy Z Flip is now available, and it comes with firmware version F700FXXSEKWL1. The update is available in Europe, starting with Italy. It is a small update, and it includes the January 2024 security patch that fixes 75 security flaws found in the previous software version. The update doesn't bring any new features or performance improvements.
If you are still holding onto your original Galaxy Z Flip and live in Europe, you can check for the new update by opening the Settings app on your device and then navigating to Software update and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
The Galaxy Z Flip was launched all the way back in early 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The first flip phone from Samsung received the Android 11 update in late 2020 and the Android 12 update in late 2021. The Android 13-based One UI 5 update was its last major software update, and it arrived in late 2022. The phone will continue to get security updates for a few months more.
If you want to upgrade from your Galaxy Z Flip, you should consider the Galaxy Z Flip 5 that launched last year. You can watch its review in the video below.
