Samsung has announced in an official blog that it is teaming up with British Gas to help customers make their homes more energy-efficient across Britain. Samsung will integrate its SmartThings Energy with British Gas' PeakSave incentive program. This will provide British customers with easier control over their energy usage in their daily lives.

Chanwoo Park, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics, said, “Together we are now able to harness SmartThings Energy to provide customers with easier control into optimizing their daily routines and energy use.” British Gas is the UK's leading energy and home service supplier and has been around since 1812. It was launched as the world's first utility company.

SmartThings Energy Auto DR service is already available in several regions

British Gas supplies energy to over 10 million homes and also aims to bring the UK to net zero by 2050 by helping customers reduce their carbon footprint with a range of energy-efficient methods, such as the use of Samsung SmartThings Energy. Notably, the collaboration will integrate SmartThings Energy's Auto Demand Response (Auto DR) feature with British Gas PeakSave starting today.

PeakSave rewards its customers for reducing energy usage during peak hours when the electricity demand is high. Here, SmartThings Energy's support for Auto DR will help automatically adjust the appliances' operating modes when the peak hours are triggered. Customers can earn money by using less energy during such events.

Users can reduce energy usage by SmartThings Energy Auto DR, which can automatically turn on the AI Energy Mode to save extra energy, then they can also use the power-off function, allowing users to automatically turn off the appliances when not needed. Also, savings can be made by smartly adjusting the temperature for EHS products and third-party thermostats.
