Just a day after it released the first February security update for some devices, Samsung detailed the February 2024 security patch and all the fixes it brings for various vulnerabilities affecting the software on Galaxy devices.

At the same time, Samsung has updated the list of devices eligible for monthly, quarterly, and biannual security updates. The Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and the Galaxy Tab Active 5, which went on sale in January, have been newly added to the monthly schedule. Others have either been downgraded from the quarterly schedule to the biannual schedule or removed entirely.

Article continues after the video

The Galaxy Tab S6 will no longer receive any updates unless any fatal security vulnerabilities are discovered in the operating system and necessitate updating of older devices that may not be supported any longer. Only the Galaxy Tab S6's Lite model will continue to get updates (on a quarterly schedule).

The budget Galaxy A01 will stop receiving updates as well. The Galaxy Tab A8 and the Galaxy A03 have been downgraded to the biannual schedule, meaning they will get security updates twice every year for the remainder of the support period. The full list of Galaxy devices that are still eligible for updates can be found here.

Usually, you will receive an automatic notification if a new update is available for your phone or tablet. But you can always check for new updates manually by opening your phone or tablet's Settings » Software update menu and selecting the Download and install option. Also keep checking back on SamMobile for news on software updates for Galaxy devices.
