GoPro has made two announcements today. First, the company has released the Quik app for macOS. Second, it has launched the Premium+ subscription tier for the Quik app.
GoPro releases the Quik app for macOS
Let’s start with the Quik app for macOS. It is a desktop version of the Quik app for Android and iOS. It allows you to edit photos and videos and upload the desired content to GoPro’s cloud service. Anyone who owns a GoPro can download the Quik app for macOS from the App Store for free. One of the best things about Quik for macOS is that it can sync with Quik for Android and iOS, allowing you to start editing a photo on your smartphone and continue editing it on your Mac device, or the other way around.
The most noticeable difference between Quik for Android/iOS and Quik for macOS is that the latter offers “Desktop Level Organization.” Apart from that, it is unclear if the desktop version of the app offers any additional editing or other features compared to the mobile version but we are hoping that it does as it would be a shame if GoPro doesn’t take advantage of the larger screen, more processing and graphics power, and better controls of a PC. We hope that the company brings the app to Windows as well.
GoPro launches the Premium+ subscription plan
Coming to the Premium+ subscription plan for the Quik app, GoPro has priced it at $99.99 per month in the US, and it sits above the Premium plan which costs $49.99 per month. For the additional amount, Premium+ offers two benefits over Premium: “500 GB Cloud Storage for Non-GoPro Footage” and “HyperSmooth Pro Video Stabilization.” You can opt for it from either the desktop or the mobile version of the Quik app.
