Sony has designed the PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) to work with PlayStation 5 (PS5) and you can only use it with titles that support the virtual reality headset. However, the company has now announced that it is testing the ability for the PS VR2 to work with PCs, which will allow people to use the VR headset with Windows machines and games available on the platform. However, there’s no info if all PC games will work with it or only the select ones. According to Sony, it will roll out the ability for the PS VR2 to work with PCs this year.
“We’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5. We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.”
Modders have been trying to make the PS VR2 work with PCs ever since the virtual reality headset came out, including trying to reverse-engineer the hardware. However, nothing has worked so far. Fortunately, Sony is officially bringing the support for that. The ability of the PS VR2 to work with PCs might increase the sales of the VR headset. On a related note, Sony has recently added support for passkeys to PlayStation. Reportedly, the company is also planning on launching the PlayStation 5 Pro before the arrival of GTA 6.
