New Wi-Fi standards are introduced every few years, and a lot of meticulous work goes into their development. Wi-Fi 7 is the latest standard and made its first appearance on some routers and smartphones in 2023, even though its development, especially on the non-technical side, wasn't fully completed and is not expected to finish until late 2024.

Samsung joined the Wi-Fi 7 party a little later than the competition

Samsung didn't jump on the Wi-Fi 7 bandwagon last year for Galaxy smartphones, even though the Snapdragon chip that powered its 2023 flagships had the necessary hardware to support Wi-Fi 7, and even though Wi-Fi 7 was available on the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, devices that used a Samsung Exynos modem.

Fast forward to 2024, and Samsung finally decided to bring Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to Galaxy devices. The company kicked things off with the Galaxy S24 Ultra while deciding to keep the Galaxy S24 and S24+ limited to Wi-Fi 6E, as the Exynos 2400 that powers them in most countries is limited to Wi-Fi 6E as well.

Wi-Fi 7 will start becoming more commonplace on Samsung's flagship phones and tablets in the coming months and years, and to help you find out what devices support Wi-Fi 7 and which devices do not so you can make an informed purchase, we have created the list below.

Galaxy smartphones and tablets that support Wi-Fi 7 (as of October 21, 2024)

  • Galaxy S24 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition
  • Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

As of March 5, 2024, the list is extremely short, but it will grow larger in the coming years. We will update the list every time a new Galaxy device comes out rocking compatibility with Wi-Fi 7 networks, so be sure to bookmark this page for future reference.

Wi-Fi 7 is 4.7x faster than Wi-Fi 6E and can reach theoretical speeds as high as 46 Gbps. It also doubles channel bandwidth for individual devices from 160 MHz to 320 MHz and enables routers to serve more devices at the same time. It's also more efficient, which is a particularly important improvement for mobile devices.

To learn about how Wi-Fi 7 is better than Wi-Fi 6E and older standards and all the features it offers, check out the video below and the official Wi-Fi Alliance website.
