Samsung Wallet is getting the Mobile Driver's License and Mobile National Veterans Registration Card integration feature in South Korea. Samsung and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security launched this feature in South Korea earlier today.
South Korea's Ministry of Public Administration and Security has announced that displaying one's driver's license and national veterans registration cards in Samsung Wallet will be legally similar to carrying physical identification cards. At the launch event, Lee Sang-min (Minister of Public Administration and Security), Ko Jin (Digital Platform Government Committee Chairman), and TM Roh (Samsung Electronics MX Business Division President) were present.
Last month, Samsung Electronics signed an agreement with the Ministry of Public Administration and Security for this integration. These mobile IDs can be used for age verification at stores, real-time identity verification for banking services, and more. During the 22nd National Assembly election, which will be held in South Korea on April 10, Galaxy users can use their mobile driver's license in Samsung Wallet to cast their vote.
Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min said, “We will further expand the opening and collaboration of public services with the private sector so that the abundant creativity of the private sector can lead to innovation for the people’s lives. I will do my best to become a new source of vitality.”
