Galaxy S23 users complain of touchscreen issues after One UI 6.1

Samsung started rolling out the highly anticipated One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S23 series last week, but it hasn't been all roses for all users. We've heard complaints from Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra users about various issues plaguing their devices after the One UI 6.1 update. A new one is now joining the list.

Numerous Galaxy S23-series users have brought this new problem to light through the official Samsung Community forums. They claim that they began experiencing touchscreen issues after updating their Galaxy S23s to One UI 6.1. Some say they have non-OEM screens.

One UI 6.1 hasn't been very kind to Galaxy S23 users

Countless Galaxy S23-series user reports say that One UI 6.1 partially or entirely broke their touchscreens. Sometimes, they have to tap the screen several times before it registers. Other times, the touchscreen doesn't work at all.

Several other Galaxy S23 Ultra owners say that the touchscreen became entirely unresponsive after the One UI 6.1 update, and that the only way around the issue is to use the S Pen.

On the positive side, some Galaxy S23-series users say that the touchscreen problems went away after the update finished optimizing all apps and once they rebooted their phones.

Interestingly, at least a couple of these affected users (from Reddit via Tech-Issues Today) admit that their Galaxy S23s have screen replacements that aren't OEM. In other words, they're not original parts.

It is possible that other affected users have non-OEM screens but failed to mention this detail in their Samsung Community posts, but it's also just as likely that the issue and the non-OEM screens are unrelated.

It's not like this is the first problem reported by S23 customers. Previous forum posts from Galaxy S23 users say the phones are running warmer after the One UI 6.1 update. Other say the fingerprint scanners are not as responsive as they once were.

If this new Galaxy S23 touchscreen issue is widespread, Samsung will likely address it with a future firmware update. Particularly if the issue is unrelated to non-OEM components. Either way, we'll keep you posted as soon as we find out more.
