Yes, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is filled up to the brim with features. It has the best-of-the-best processor, the highest-resolution camera, the unmatched S Pen, and plenty of AI-powered features. However, its most useful feature is its Gorilla Glass Armor protection. And Samsung has finally unveiled how it is made.
Gorilla Glass Armor's manufacturing process revealed in Samsung's video
No other smartphone in the world currently staves off reflections like the Galaxy S24 Ultra does. And the secret behind it is Corning's Gorilla Glass Armor. It is made through an extremely precise layering method to achieve anti-reflective properties. Special ions are carefully deposited on the glass substrate at a nanometer-level (thinner than human hair) precision.
You can watch glimpses of the manufacturing process in the video below.
All of this is done in an ultra-clean environment using vacuum deposition systems. Air is removed from the processing chamber, and Argon gas is injected into the vacuum chamber. The ionization of argon gas happens via the plasma environment. This is the same technology used while making semiconductor chips, making this process extremely costly.
As a result, the Gorilla Glass Armor protection can reduce reflections by a whopping 75% compared to competitive aluminosilicate cover glasses. Moreover, this durable layer also makes Gorilla Glass Armor 4x more scratch-resistant against micro scratches. You can watch how it resists light and reflections in real-life conditions in our in-depth Galaxy S24 Ultra review video below.
