Samsung wins bid to upgrade ACs in 18,000 low-income Korean homes

Samsung has announced that the South Korean government has awarded it the contract to supply air conditioners for the government’s Energy Efficiency Improvement Project For Low-Income Households/People for the third year in a row.

The South Korean government has many policies in place to improve the energy efficiency of buildings to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases and energy poverty. One such program is the Energy Efficiency Improvement Project For Low-Income Households.

Under it, the government replaces old and high energy-consuming air conditioners with new and low energy-consuming air conditioners for free in select households with low income every year. For the last two years, the government has been awarding Samsung the contract to offer air conditioners for this program. This year too, it has chosen Samsung.

Samsung will upgrade older ACs with energy-efficient WindFree ACs in Korean homes

Samsung will supply WindFree ACs to 18,000 households, which were selected by 229 government bodies across the country. The brand says that these models consume 77% less electricity in the WindFree mode compared to the Fast Cooling mode.

Commenting on the achievement, the Vice President of Samsung Electronics Korea, Oh Chio, said “We have built an infrastructure that can proceed in a timely manner from production to installation of the highly efficient AI wind-free wall-mounted air conditioner. We sincerely hope that Samsung Electronics’ air conditioner will help the energy-vulnerable group enjoy a healthy summer.
