Samsung's home appliances division is inking new deals to expand its footprint in the United States, one of the world's most lucrative markets for such products. The company has been forging partnerships with real estate development companies to supply its appliance for their new projects.
The Korean giant has now signed a deal with Clayton Home Building Group, the largest single-family home builder in the United States. It will supply built-in kitchen appliances as part of this multi-year partnership.
Expect to find Samsung appliances in a lot more new homes
This long-term deal will see Samsung's AI-enabled kitchen appliances being used by Clayton in its new homes. Samsung's Bespoke kitchen suites, which include dishwashers, refrigerators, ovens, and microwaves will be installed in the builder's new homes. Laundry appliances from Samsung will also be provided as an optional upgrade to new home buyers.
All of the appliances that Samsung supplies to Clayton will be Wi-Fi connected, and thus capable of integration with Samsung's SmartThings platform. They'll also be certified as Energy Star by the US Environmental Protection Agency, ensuring homeowners that their appliances are energy efficient. The Clayton Home Building Group is committed to ensuring energy efficiency in its homes, having built more than 140,000 Energy Star certified homes since 2005.
This is the second such deal that Samsung has clinched for its consumer applainces in the United States this month. A deal was also announced with Flow earlier this month, with Samsung providing SmartThings-enabled home appliances for one of its newest projects, a 422-unit complex in Miami.
Recent market data has shown that Samsung continues to lead the US home appliance market, taking 21% share in total sales last year. These latest deals are expected to further increase Samsung's share in this lucrative market.
