Android 15 improves screen sharing while maintaining sensitive data privacy

Google recently released the first beta version of Android 15. Since then, enthusiasts and experts have discovered new features in the operating system. Now, another Android 15 feature has been revealed. It aims to improve screen sharing while maintaining the privacy of sensitive data on a device.

Android 15 to bring Sensitive Content Protection feature during screen sharing

Android Police have discovered that Android 15 Beta 1.1 has a new Developer Option named ‘Disable Screen Share Protection.' This toggle can enable or disable protection for sensitive data inside apps. For example, data such as private messages or one-time passwords can stay hidden when screen sharing is active. This feature is internally called Sensitive Content Protection.

App developers can use this feature to hide or block certain fields. This way, apps can be displayed in a screen-sharing session but have their sensitive data hidden. This is great as it allows users to share the app on their screens rather than applying a blanket ban on the entire app.

Moreover, it also improves data security, as malicious apps that trick users into sharing their screens won't be able to see sensitive data. However, Google hasn't officially explained this feature yet, so we need to wait a bit more to see how developers can use it for improved security and privacy.
