We exclusively revealed that Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event will happen in early July 2024. During the event, the company will likely unveil the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6. While the foldable phones will likely use the 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy processor, the Galaxy Watch 7 is expected to be Samsung's first device to use a 3nm Exynos chip.

While some reports already claimed the Galaxy Watch 7 will use a 3nm chip, a new report from The Korean Economic Daily reveals more information about it. According to the report, the Galaxy Watch 7's chip will be called the Exynos W1000, as rumored earlier. It is fabricated on Samsung Foundry's second-generation 3nm process node (SF3).

Samsung already revealed a few days ago that it has taped out its first 3nm chip, and the new report claims that its mass production will start in the second half of the year.

A significant change in the chip's name is possible since Samsung is jumping from a 5nm process for the Exynos W930 to a 3nm process for the Exynos W1000. It will be the most advanced wearable chip in the world. In comparison, the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 use a 5nm chip called the S9. The new report claims the Exynos W1000 offers higher performance and 20% more power efficiency. This should be enough to boost the Galaxy Watch 7's performance and battery life.

The report from South Korea says that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will happen on July 10 in Paris, confirming the authenticity of our report. This date is reportedly chosen to maximize the promotion of the new products ahead of the Paris Olympic Games that start on July 26, 2024. It is also claimed that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature a “wrinkle-free” foldable screen (no visible crease), unlike previous foldable phones from Samsung.

What to expect from Galaxy Watch 7?

We exclusively revealed a few months ago that the Galaxy Watch 7 series will have 32GB of internal storage space, double that of the Galaxy Watch 6. Samsung's upcoming smartwatch series is likely to include three models, and unlike previous-generation Galaxy Watches, one of them could have a square(r) screen. It could also bring a newer version of One UI Watch, based on Wear OS 5, as its internal development has started. Google will likely unveil Wear OS 5 at the Google I/O event today.

Samsung's upcoming smartwatch could use AI to detect atrial fibrillation more accurately. Samsung has confirmed that its next smartwatch could be more premium and include more AI features. One of the models could also feature the biggest battery ever seen in a Galaxy Watch.
